Hello, I’m a traditional birth doula, certified Medi-Cal doula, and lactation educator here in the Chico and Butte County area. I serve both English and Spanish speaking families.
I'm here to provide you with evidence-based information so you feel empowered to make your own informed choices. I also love to support with hands-on care like spinning babies support, yoga, rebozo work, gentle massage, sobadas, herbal baths/steaming, cerrada de caderas, and more.
My personal experience mixes ancestral methods with hospital settings and evidence based Western methods. Fun fact about me: my grandmother(American CNM) and great grandmothers(traditional Mexican parteras) were midwives.
My philosophy of my purpose as a doula is to give information and support to families, so that they feel empowered to make their own informed decisions about their family during and after pregnancy and birth. I love evidence-based mother/birthing parent-centered care and love to encorporate acenstral/holistic aspects of care for families who want that type of support.
I worked several years at Homeless Prenatal Program in San Francisco as a Bilingual Pregnancy Wellness Counselor and as part of their Lactation team. Our populations served were mainly low-income families with children 0-5yo, immigrant communities (largely from Central America and Latin America), indigenous communities, teen pregnancies, and high-risk homes. Many HPP clients I also supported as a Volunteer Prenatal or Postpartum Doula through the organization Birth Companions Community Center. I also do mutual aid work with Campesina Womb Justice in Watsonville where we mainly support indigenous Mixteco farmworkers. My family is also Mixteco so I also have personal experience providing fdoula roles roles with family and friends within our community. I also have experiece supporting abortions, losses, single mothers and mothers escaping DV.
