Hi, my name is Dawn. I am a DONA International–certified Birth Doula (2002) and Postpartum Doula (2003) with more than 20 years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Over the course of my career, I have had the honor of serving more than 300 families in person and hundreds more virtually, providing evidence-based education, labor support, postpartum recovery guidance, and infant feeding support.
In addition to my hands-on work with families, I am a maternal health advocate and the founder of Improving Birth, as well as the CEO of Birthify, a virtual perinatal support platform. My work has always centered on helping families access respectful, informed, and supportive care during the perinatal journey.
My approach is centered on informed decision-making, emotional safety, and continuity of support. During pregnancy, I focus on evidence-based education and thoughtful preparation so families feel confident navigating their care and collaborating with their providers. During labor, I offer steady emotional presence, physical comfort techniques, and real-time information to support aligned and empowered decision-making. In the postpartum period, I emphasize recovery, infant feeding support, newborn education, and helping families adjust to life with a new baby with confidence. My care is professional, trauma-informed, and individualized to each family’s unique needs.
