My name is Dawneshia Logo, also known as Ma Hood Doula. I started my training during the pandemic in October of 2020. I saw a need within my community to support women and mothers.

Hi, I'm Dawneshia Logo, also known as Ma Hood Doula! My journey into birth work began long before my training; it began in the delivery room. After giving birth to my son in 2018 via cesarean, I found myself reflecting deeply on that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period, and on how much I longed for additional support, guidance, and someone in my corner who truly understood. That experience planted a seed. When I went on to have an empowering, successful VBAC with my second-youngest daughter in 2020, that seed became a fire, and I began my doula training that October, driven by a deeply personal calling to make sure other mothers never have to navigate this journey feeling alone, unprepared, or unseen.
I began my training during the pandemic, when the need for community-based support felt more critical than ever. What started as a response to that moment has grown into a full practice rooted in lived experience, cultural responsiveness, and genuine love for this work. I've had the privilege of supporting a wide range of families, first-time parents stepping into the unknown, mothers navigating high-risk pregnancies including preeclampsia, and plus-size mothers who deserve care that's affirming and free of judgment. As a mother of multiple children myself, including two successful VBACs, I bring a perspective that goes beyond the professional. I know what it feels like to want more, more support, more information, more reassurance, and I bring that understanding to every family I serve.
My philosophy is that it not only takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to ensure mothers thrive. I wholeheartedly believe that doula work is heart work, and I pour that heart into educational and informational support, emotional support and empowerment, and physical support as I help mothers prepare prenatally for labor, birth, and the postpartum journey.
At the core of my work is a simple, unwavering belief: every mother and family deserves to feel empowered, informed, and capable of advocating for themselves. When mothers are equipped with knowledge, surrounded by encouragement, and supported by a steady, trustworthy presence, they don't just survive this season; they thrive in it.
Overall, my goal is to walk alongside you every step of the way, whether you're preparing for your first birth, navigating a complex pregnancy, or finding your footing in postpartum, with compassion, expertise, and a whole lot of heart.
