About Me

Hi, I'm Debra (Deb the Doula)! I am a birth and postpartum doula with over 11 years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. I provide calm, knowledgeable, and compassionate care tailored to each family's unique needs—whether we have months to prepare or are connecting at the last minute. I am especially skilled at stepping in quickly for families who hire a doula later in pregnancy, building trust efficiently, and providing grounded, effective support right away. I have extensive experience working with high-risk pregnancies and medically indicated inductions, and I specialize in supporting mothers who are being induced for medical reasons. In addition to birth support, I provide postpartum doula care, breastfeeding support, and maternal mental health support in the postpartum period.

I feel as doulas we should meet families where they are and support them in the birth that they want—not what we think is best for them. I am very flexible, and while birth plans are great, we also need to realize they are not written in stone and there are times we need to pivot. My role is to offer non-biased, evidence-based support, helping you understand your options, prepare for what to expect, and feel supported throughout the process while working collaboratively with your medical team. I enjoy including your partner in all aspects of the birth (should you have one), and dads really like working with me because I give them the respect they deserve as mom's partner and the infant's other parent.
