About Me

I grew up always knowing I wanted a family. Perhaps that is what shaped my affinity for all things birth since my early twenties. In college, I would devour blog posts about birth stories, entranced by the raw power of birthing individuals captured in videos and photos. It wasn't until birthing my own three babies—at a birthing center, at home, and at a hospital—did I truly understand the importance of a supportive birth team, especially if pregnancy and labor take an unexpected turn, as it often does.

When it was time for me to build my own birth team, I struggled to find birthworkers who looked like me. And when my mother and aunt stayed with me for a month after each of my births—to nourish me with seaweed soup and bone broth, to guide me as I navigated the unknown waters of parenthood, and to give me a safe space to heal physically, emotionally and mentally—I could see very clearly that I needed to provide this kind of cultural and ancestral support for other birthing folks. “Jee-in” (지인) is my middle name and an ode to my Korean culture that inspires the care I provide for my clients.
