Hannah Urrutia

Full Spectrum Doula

About Me

Hi, I'm Hannah, the face behind Helpful Hands Doula! I'm a mom of two (ages five and soon-to-be four) and happily married to my sweet husband for the last decade. I'm a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula as well as a Certified Childbirth Educator, with over 100 hours volunteering with nursing mom support groups, and I'm fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Supporting families through this journey is truly my calling.

I focus on creating a nurturing and empowering environment, allowing you to embrace your journey into parenthood with confidence and joy. I'm passionate about education and providing resources, so you can have true informed consent every step of the way. My goal is to help you feel supported, confident, and cared for as you welcome your little one.

Practice Philosophy

My philosophy, put simply, is to love the mom. Becoming a mother, or transitioning into a mother of multiples, can be tough, and I love providing insight and support along the way, offering evidence-based resources so families can learn and make well-informed decisions for their birth and beyond. I meet each mom right where she is.

I love taking time across two prenatal visits to make plans, practice positions, and talk through any fears or hopes for the upcoming birth. As a mother who experienced a traumatic birth myself, I feel I have the gift of being approachable and a good listener, able to guide families through the process and offer hands-on support with all those wonderful positions that help baby engage and labor progress.

In postpartum, I focus on simply being there for the mother, whether that means holding the baby while she takes a shower, unloading the dishwasher when she can't bend down after a cesarean, or offering a kind, listening ear as she processes her birth or works through any trauma she may have experienced. Overall, my goal is to love and support you wholeheartedly, so you feel cared for and never alone.
