Hi, I'm Katharine! As a former public school special education teacher, I am passionate about meeting my clients where they are at on their individual journey. Teaching and learning are part of my core identity, and working as a full spectrum doula provides me the opportunity to serve my community through educating, encouraging, and advocating for birthing people. This work is truly my calling. I am honored to be part of a family's transition into parenthood, and I support them as they adjust to their new roles.
As a parent myself, I have a profound respect for this major life transition, and I firmly believe everyone deserves the support of an informed, unbiased doula. When I am not working with birthing people or spending time with my own family, I am working in private practice as an IBCLC, reading about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, or attending training to enhance my skill set. My goal is to walk alongside every family with the same informed, unbiased support I believe they deserve.
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that birth is a dress rehearsal for parenting. It is a rite of passage that is deeply intimate and deserves reverence. My favorite part of this work is witnessing new parents being born alongside their babies, and I have come to embrace the fact that it rarely goes according to plan. It is messy, wild, and deeply transformative.
Overall, my goal is to hold space for that messiness and transformation, so every parent feels reverence and support as they step into who they are becoming.
