Hi, I'm Nicole LaCour-Wordlaw! I'm a devoted wife and mother, childbirth educator, certified birth doula, placenta encapsulator, prenatal movement instructor, birth center administrative director, and student midwife. After experiencing the profound beauty of my own home births in 2008 and 2010, I was inspired to dive deeper into birthwork, and it's truly my calling.
I earned my BFA in Dance from UCLA and became a Certified Dancing for Birth™ Instructor in 2014, weaving movement and body awareness into pregnancy and labor support. I completed my doula training in 2012 and have had the honor of supporting families in hospitals, birth centers, and homes. I've also helped manage multiple birth centers across Los Angeles since 2007, and I began my journey as a student midwife in late 2023.
As a third-generation Los Angeleno, I feel incredibly blessed to offer my heart, hands, and knowledge to expectant families. When I'm not immersed in birthwork, I cherish time with my husband of 20 years and our two amazing teenagers, and I find joy in nature, blending essential oils, traveling, music, and attending vibrant art events.
My approach to prenatal, birth, and postpartum support is rooted in the belief that every person is the expert on their own body, values, and lived experience. Support and education are tools meant to inform and empower, never to direct or override, so that you can make decisions that feel aligned with your needs, your culture, and your circumstances.
During pregnancy and birth, I focus on providing evidence-based information, emotional presence, and practical support, always honoring that there is no single "right" way to give birth. Whether you desire minimal intervention, medical support, or something in between, my role is to walk alongside you, help you understand your options, and support your right to choose your own path.
In the postpartum period, my philosophy centers on continuity of care, rest, and holistic support, recognizing the physical recovery, emotional shifts, and social changes that follow birth. I aim to create a supportive space where families feel seen, heard, and respected as they transition into this new phase.
Overall, my goal is to walk alongside you as a steady, informed presence, honoring your expertise over your own body and helping you feel empowered, supported, and respected on whatever path you choose.
