Hi, my name is Merrisa, the heart behind Luna Life Doula Services. I am a first-generation American, with my family roots in Belize, where my great-grandmother served as a midwife in San Ignacio. Her legacy of care and community continues to inspire my work today. With over 16 years of experience as a dedicated yoga practitioner and a deep passion for supporting families, I provide compassionate, holistic care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.
My background in Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga, Lactation Education, and full-spectrum doula support allows me to meet families with both knowledge and intuition. I currently serve as a Centering Pregnancy (Group Prenatal Facilitator), creating supportive, educational spaces for expecting parents, and as a Maternal Child Health Liaison with BMHCE through Charles Drew University, where I advocate for improved maternal and infant health outcomes.
I believe birth is a deeply physiological, emotional, and spiritual experience that deserves to be honored and protected—not treated solely as a medical event. My approach is rooted in respect, cultural awareness, and empowering families to trust their bodies and their voices. It is my honor to walk alongside you, offering grounded, nurturing support as you transition into this transformative chapter of life.
